Bog Filtration

Does any one have an idea of how to convert a QuietFlow 10 aqueon filter into a bog filter?
My idea was to take out the activated carbon and mechanical filter pad and putting in some gravel or dirt to plant bog plants in. do you think it will work? any other ideas? what plants could I use?
Thank you for any help or ideas you may have.

I'm assuming that you have a planted tank, if you do, I don't see the purpose of a bog filter because the tank already has plants to use up the by-products of the inhabitants. If you don't have a planted tank, a small HOB filter might not be effective enough for a bog type filter.

By bog filter, you mean like plants to clean the water for the main tank? Also, an aquaclear HOB filter looks more suitable for this project because the media compartment is large and unobstructive. Sorry, I don't know anything about these type of filters.
