Copper Removal

Hello Everyone,
I have a canister filter that I would like to use on my planted tank that has been used in my saltwater quarantine setup. This filter has had copper ran through it.

Is it safe to use this filter? Is there a way to remove the traces of copper left behind?

I don't think you would have an issue with the filter proper, since it's made out of plastic and other materials that will not absorb copper.

The media may be a different story. Plastic filter sponges other media would be ok, but I'd replace any chemical media and any biomedia that looks like stones, pebbles etc.

Activated carbon is very effective at removing copper from water.

Id boil or replace the media and thoroughly clean out the canister. After that just run a bag of carbon in the canister for a few months
