Hi--I'm new today. Looking for info on plants that grow in Lago Yzabal, Guatemala. I am hoping to set up a habitat tank for my vieja maculicauda someday!

WoW.... that cichlid is going to dig into your substrate and do lots of renovatoin on your tank. To be honest I don't believe rooted plants will survive that. Java fern and Anubias on drifwood would be your best bet, but that goes away from the habitat you're thinking about.... so, hmmmm......

Swords in pots and big rocks over the pot to make sure excavation doesn't get to the roots maybe?
