Going on vacation

That means I wont have the air on on my house. I'm going set up my light so it turns on at night but I think the temp of my tank will be in the low 80's. Will this kill my java moss and cherry shrimp

My java moss and cherry shrimp grow faster and breed faster in 82 degrees. I have never had a problem with fish and 80 degree temps, but I keep mostly Neotropical fish.

Simply put you should be just fine.

Evaporative cooling can be very effective. Lift your light fixture/cover glass up a little, and perhaps add a little fan that is switched on when the lights turn on. I don't think running the lights at night will make a difference.

How long will you be gone for? You can cut the lighting back, that can help keep things under control while you're away.

In general, I think people worry too much about going on vacation while they have fish tanks at home. I am usually only concerned when it's over 1 week, even a week + a few days is ok.

I would be more concerned about temp changes from midday to middle of the night. Depends on the size tank how rapidly it will change and also depends on the weather of course. If the tank is larger and the house is well insulated it shouldn't be much of a problem though.

If all it's got is cherry shrimp in it you won't even need to have someone feed em if you don't want.
