Discus temp

so i realize this is a planted tank forum, but i have to ask a question about my discus juveniles because I'm kinda worried. i keep the temp at 85-86 but at night it gets down to 81.6... is that alright? and how do i keep it constant?? i have a 400 watt heater and its a 60 gallon cube! it should be heated.

Should probably add a second heater.. 150w should be good for a 60 gallon, that should keep temps stable.

That seems unusual - have you checked the temps both day & night several times ?
If your tank is uncovered, and the tank room temp is kept quite low during the night, I can imagine a slight drop overnite, but that seems to be quite a large drop.
Perhaps your heater is a problem - I run a 300 watt calibrated Eheim Jager on my 75 gal discus tank, set @ 84, and it doesn't move more than about 1/2 degree at any time, and it's an uncovered tank.

Yeah its uncovered and the house is pretty cold. but man, i'd think the 400 would do it.. but obviously not. it gets to 86 during the day with the light on then drops to 81.5. so.. i think im just gonna do buy 2-250 jagers and never have to worry about the temp again lol. thanks for the replies guys.
