JBJ Picotope: iwagumi style

I recently purchased a 3gal Picotope, a bag of ADA Amazonia II aqua soil, and a 27w full spectrum desk lamp.

I really love Iwagumi style planted tanks and hope to do something very similar with this new tank. I'm heading to Aqua Forest to pick up some plants in a couple days, but I have no idea what kind of plants I can use with the setup that I have. Would my tank be considered high light, medium light? I'm in love with the look of HC in nano tanks, but I don't really want to set up any formal CO2 system as of right now. Can I get away with just using Excel for CO2, or is there other alternatives for foreground cover plants. Please help!

Excel was made for tiny tanks, in my opinion. However, it will impact your ability to keep popular nano-critters, like shrimp.

I think you might be ok with HC + excel as HC LOVES excel. It also loves co2 as well but I would think it would be ok. Would probably grow slowish but would be ok. But yeah excel is no good for most fauna especially inverts.
