Root tabs

Fairly new to the whole planted tank thing. I just replaced the substrate in my tank with silica sand, and would like to ensure the plants are getting all the nutrients they need.

I would like to get opinions on the following root tabs before I purchase them: http://www.buy.com/prod/jungle-labs-...203495942.html

Should these be alright? The plants I have are the standard fare from Petco/Petsmart. Cabombas, Wisteria, etc.

Thanks!

I'm using API root tabs in 2 of my tanks, and they work great, bury them at least 3 inches in the substrate, and remember where you put them, if you come home with a new plant and start digging around youll disturb the tab and itll dissolve pretty quick in the water column

I've never used those but have used root tabs from RootMedic and have noticed great growth with them.

I second the idea of buying Rootmedic root tabs. They work very well, have been used by many forum members, and are sold by a fellow forum member.

I've always used Flourish or API tabs with good results.

I would not get those. I'm sure they are decent and all but the RM ones are better and the customer service is wonderful too. Just pm Justin (overstocked), he's the boss at rootmedic.

Same here. I have always used Flourish. That being said, I should mention that my tanks are lowish light and lowish tech. More demanding setups might require something a little more substantial.
