Need help with substrate!

Hello, today I drove to my lfs and petco and petsmart and none of them had planted tank dirt.

Is there any types of dirt I can get from another store? Like home depot or lowes?

If I do end up having to buy sand or pebbles as a last resort what pebbles or sand should I go with?? I'm trying for an iwagumi setup!!!

Thanks

Petsmart sales some stuff called FloraMax for planted tanks.
Petco I think sales EcoComplete

You could DIY some soil using the MTS method. There are also threads about using potting soil from home improvement stores. I'd search for those and read up on it before going out and getting it. MTS and potting soil usually require a cap of some type, usually people use sand.

I used Floramax with pea gravel over it in my planted tank, but if you are going for a iwagumi setup I would choose EcoComplete, MTS or potting soil.

Petsmart sells Flourite, which I bought for my first planted tank..

Petco sells eco-complete ONLINE, I'm not completely sure if they have that stuff in stores.

If you want dirt for your tank use this stuff, but be sure to cap it off with sand or something. Home depot and lowes have it.

Nothing Ventured. Nothing Gained.

This stuff can be hard to find but look up LFS in your area and call to see if they have it or can order it, I drive 40 minutes to the closest LFS with plants, etc and 1.5 hours to the better of the two in my area. You can also order it on line but you may pay extra for freight but with gas at 4 bucks per gallon it might be cheaper shipped. I think "thatpetplace dot com has Laterite which you could use under Flourite and they carry all colors of the clay and sand. There are also many DIY tips here if you search around, there are plenty of folks that use the backyard clay and cover it will something pretty and it works as well or better, good luck.
