20 or 29 gallon riparium?

So, after looking at a lot of the nice ripariums on here, like all of hydrophyte's, I started to want one. I recently acquired a 20 long and a 29 gallon and I am wondering which one would make a better riparium. If I used the 20 long, I would de-rim it and fill it almost to the top with water, with the plants growing up over the tank. If I used the 29, I would only partially fill it with water, with the plants growing out of the water but still within the tank.

I may end up doing both eventually, especially if I like the way the first one turns out. The question is, which one do I try, the 20 long or 29? From what little I understand, the 29 would be better for high humidity plants, since they are enclosed. I don't know what plants I am going to use yet. If anyone knows if one way is easier (lower maintenance or hardier plants) than the other, feel free to comment. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well.

That sounds about right. The 29 would probably be a better shape for a high-humidity setup with a lowered water level. You could get some great plants going in there.

For the 20 long you might not be able to de-rim it and also fill it all the way to the top. You might need to leave a few inches empty at the top to give the seems a bit more strength. How tall is a 20 long anyway? You could get some great plants going in a tank like that too, although you will wan to select plants that will stay smaller to conform with the scale and not fill up all the space above the tank.

The 20 long is 30x12x12. The 29 is 30x12x18, so same foot print but 6 inches taller.
