Planted tank attempt. Please advise

I had a saltwater aquarium for about 5 years, but I tore it down. Mainly because I moved and secondly because I'd like to have a simpler life. Saltwater was too much hassle for me.
So, I'm thinking of setting up a planted tank. I have a 30l Dennerle Nano tank and a canister filter and I'd like some advise on plants and equipment please.

First things first, which easy-moderate nano plant would form a decent carpet? Not keen on HC or MC, as they tend to float and they need trimming quite often. At least that's what I've read on the internet. I was thinking of something more... grassy.

Moving on to lighting; what LED light would you recommend, given that I have a limited budget?

Finally, what's the best route for CO2 injection; buy a kit like Tropica's, or DIY?

Thank you in advance.

If you're going high tech, then dwarf hairgrass is a good option.

LED: a cheap one that will grow dwarf hairgrass fine is the nicrew deluxe. Not sure of your tank dimensions though so make sure it fits.

Co2, it's really up to you. At small volumes especially, diy is a viable option although some people will say it's not good for consistency. I've used a diy kit for a while and my plants are growing just fine. I'd suggest looking into citric acid reactions over yeast. You don't depend on living organisms to keep your pressure up as you do in yeast. Plus it's less messy and no scent.

Also, you can always tack on more expensive toys onto an aquarium, especially co2. So even if you choose diy, you can automate the time it's on by purchasing a solenoid valve. I personally open my each day but understand the benefits of the solenoid.

Hey Jah410,
Thanks for your reply.

My nano is 30x30x35 cm.
I've sorted the light. I'll modify the DIY LED I had on my salty. It's programmable with an Arduino controller. So, I guess that will work fine.
As for the CO2, when I said DIY, I didn't mean using yeast; I meant using a fire extinguisher and parts from eBay.

Don’t skimp on co2 set up. Get a decent regulator and pressurized.

Paintball tanks, DYI, yeast...yea they work but if your goal is hassle free...spend the money.
