Temporary Top Lid?

I still looking for a glass top lit that fits everything I have, its a confuse set up but I won't stop looking for the right one.
Does this temporary plastic sheet will damage the LED lights? They are really strong and doesn't seem to block too much cause the aquarium still really bright.

There are some pictures of the sheet thickness and how my setup is, thats why I'm using it...
Also I'm posting 2 pictures of the front view of the aquarium #with and #without the plastic top lid, so u guys can spot any difference.

I don't think it will hurt anything but be aware that some condensation will form under the temporary lid and may drip outside the tank.

Yeah I though about the condensation so I will make it to fit exactly the size. I'm confused about the light lost.

Just take your measurements and have a piece of glass cut at a local glass shop. I made a two piece sliding top for about $12.00...

What is the purpose of a top? Imo completely unnecessary and does not serve any purpose. They block light, negatively affect gas exchange, and generate excess heat. Take a look at the tanks of the most experienced aquarists; don't know of any of them using a top.

So, is it a myth that a planted 20g with CO2 injections, water movement, and strong LED light will have evaporation and that i need to fight it? Should I not care about evaporation anymore then? Cause is 1 inch of water after 2 days without it and with the top part i noticed no significant drop during 2 weeks now. Help me understand why the most smart ppl dont do it pls

They slow down evaporation and prevent fish from jumping.

But what do the most experienced guys use then? If they dont use top parts like you said, what could I do? Just take it away?

Yes, you have to keep up with evaporation but that's no big deal, just add more water. Another con of a top is it makes it inconvenient getting your hands in tank, causing some to do less maintenance.

I see...
I made some cuts in the plastic so the light could go in (picture below), also i can rarely hear some noise at the water surface like the fish are jumping or something so I will leave the top plastic, I dont know if they try to jump or just see a bubble and try to eat it, but still safer with the plastic for me, i guess.
Thanks again
