Tank recommendations

Hello all, I kept a big 180 mixed reef for many years and had to tear it down when it split a seam, we were to be moving shortly anyway so I have been tankless for a while now. I am considering starting a planted tank, something smaller in the 40-50 gallon range and since it has been a good 20 years since I have purchased a tank was wondering which tanks are among the better choices for a planted tank. Thanks in advance.

A lot of folks like the 40 breeder in that size range-- the 18" depth makes scaping a lot easier than some of the narrower tanks, and it's big enough for a variety of fish.

I would second the 40 breeder for a planted tank. 18" depth front to back really is fantastic for scaping. I would pick 40 breeder over a 55 any day. I actually keep a 40 and a 75. The 75 I just recently got, upgrading from a 55, which I found to be challenging to scape.

Good luck!

I like my 55 but for plants and not just fish I too think the 40 breeder is better.

That would be why I replaced my 55 with a 75. I'm saving the 55 for if I ever want a tank with a sump, though, so there's that.
