How long can plants survive in the mail?

I ordered some plants that were shipped on April 25th. They are lost somewhere in the USPS system. The plants are Windelov Fern and anubias, how long before I should consider it a total loss and look for more plants?

Those particular plants could probably last at least 2 weeks, especially the anubias if they were packaged well. Even if the leaves aren't great the rhizome should still be good.

It honestly depends on temperature, how well the package was packed, and what plants are packed. Stemmed plants maybe could survive, anubias, ferns, bolbitis usually can survive longer.

I was hoping for the best with rhizome plants. For about the first time ever I shell out good money for plants instead of a buying a little here and there and waiting, and then they end up in USPS purgatory.

There have been more delays lately with covid. I sent some Riccia to someone here last week and it took over a week. I figured it was a goner, but buyer said it was in pretty good shape and that was Riccia.

You will most likely get a refund if anything but yeah, it sucks so bad during covid19, shipping is just so much more fragile.

Well, it looks like the fern is ok (so far), but the anubias is beat up. I just dumped them into my 37 cube just to get them wet and see what I have. I'm assuming I should trim off all of the yellow and melting leaves.

I trimmed all of the soft leaves off. Rhizome was all firm. The biggest rhizome was probably the worst. Disappointed with what I got for the money, but it's better than getting nothing anyway.

Yes it is. I had more than twice that into it. Hopefully they bounce back well and this is just a story that I'll be able to tell. Might be the last time that I send PayPal F&F though.
