nitrite spike

hi guys
I started up my 72g tank about a month ago. I used my old filter from my previous tank without washing the media. I also used the flourite out of my previous tank, again straight up, no washing. Same with the live plants.
My tank didn't go through a cycle at the beginning.

My parameters ( i use the hagen test kit)
nitrate 20-50
PO4 0.25
GH5
FE 0
amn 0
nitrate 1.6

I do EI dosing, and still trying to get my dosing right. It's taken me several weeks to get my nitrates up to that range.
I do a 50% w/c every week.

I've done 2 days of 25% w/c.

anything else I should be doing?

thanx
richard

Do you have fish in there already? I had the same thing, but my cycle was normal however the nitrites hang around for a few more weeks, perhaps dose seachem prime that will keep the fish healthy. Didn't harm my fish at all even with nitrites, but keep doing water changes every two days.
