Need advice/opinions

So awhile back, I had been looking to setup a 40 long. I really wanted one with black silicone like that Marineland makes. Really difficult to find. So I broke down and just picked up a 55 long by Marineland. Unfortunately.... The store does not accept returns of course. Now recently, the ML 40 long has come into the LFS by me finally and of course much cheaper than the 55. Like almost 35 dollars cheaper. So if I wanted the 40 still, I'm out 150 dollars. I could pick it up and try to resell the 55.. But in no way will I recoup the 150 dollars I paid for it. I could get probably around half. I cannot use a dual stand setup with 55 on top and 40 on bottom. What would you do? I could also just store the 55 away for a rainy day I suppose.

Why do you prefer a 40 long to the 55?

They're both 48x13 footprints, no? The 40L is 16" high, so you'd just need enough clearance for lights and being able to service it. 2x4 stands are a breeze to build if there's nothing at local stores with enough headroom on the bottom.

Nothing good happens fast in an ecosystem.

Shorter and better dimensions for scaping, cleaning, maintenance etc. Not as much dead space height-wise. And I cant use a double stand because its a space and weight thing. I have room for only one tank and have a 1 year old. Have to use a sturdy stand. Not one of those metal ones.

Ask store with 40 if they’ll swap you out dead even, that way you’ll only be out the $35.

Should have just had one or the other of stores just special order one you wanted from beginning.
