90 gallon tank stand question.

Question not sure if this is right section for this. My question is are you guys running a wooden flat under aquarium? My current stand just supporting frame and 2 crossbeams. Restarting the aquarium from new this weekend and was wondering if I should place a piece of plywood underneath to spread out weight more evenly.

TY

I had my stand professionally built by a local furniture maker so it would match my home’s interior (WAF). Where the tank sits is a solid piece of cabinet grade plywood. The stand is rock solid.

If your stand has a rim on the bottom then it does not need a flat surface that covers the complete bottom of the tank. Additionally I would advise against structurally altering a stand you did not make yourself. One reason not to have a piece of wood under the tank is that water will collect there. If your stand has a rim its not needed. If you have an acrylic tank or a tank with no rim on the bottom then a fully supported bottom is required.
