Bio Hel-x tray on new Canister vs. choice of foam

To sum it me into actually using such Bio-ball related material (the Hel-x media) vs. all the foam trays stacked.

An Oase brand canister was delivered with the plastic Hel-x (Bio-ball plastics relative) in the two lower trays.
I did purchase additional foam to replace the two trays with more blue foam.

-My aquariums are fairly normal community or single predatory fish tanks.
-All my tank are "foam only" stuffed canister filters, foam-stuffed hang-on filters, and foam hydro-sponges.

I do plan to use Martrix, Biohome or whichever ceramic looking media someday to see if it changes anything in water quality.
**I never used rock media yet to date, but I do believe I am missing part of either the aerobic or an aerobic processes and getting away with it, due to the foam and water changes.

Correct me on that mistake if needed. I'm not sure I ever need any rock media with all the foam involved.
Foam only =good to go?

White Hel-x media looks like this below.

The canister has a pre-filter of foam as well as normal media trays.

There is foam above the Hel-x chambers.
It may help protect the motor with use of rock media and the grit before entering the motor.
