Balancing Fluval Spec V (2.0)
So far my tank has been doing well and most of my plants have been thriving. I have noticed the presence of diatoms, but its minor and may dissipate as the tank cycles.
However, this is a low-tech setup, meaning no CO2. Yet, the new spec light is 7000k and supposedly 60PAR at the centre of the bottom of the substrate. I'm dosing thrive, which is supposedly based on the EI method (therefore abundant in nutrients).
If it is the case that this light is fairly strong, and these nutrients are abundant, then do you think this will pose algae problems in the future in the absence of CO2? I'm worried of some sudden unrecoverable algae bloom because of the light and fert strength...I do dose 0.5ml of Excel daily however...
Would this be a matter of just scaling back lighting and fertilization??
