Perfectly Healthy Fish to Perfectly Dead within 36 hours...
Hello fellow aquascapers! As the title states, I had a perfectly healthy German Blue Ram (about 1 year old), vibrant colors, eating, living its fish life to the fullest extent as the king of my 20G L tank along with 15 or so other community fish. 36 hours ago, I noticed what appeared to be a cyst or tumor like growth right behind his eye, and now 36 hours later, he has been given his wings. Can anyone help me figure out what this might have been and if I need to keep an eye out on my other fish?
Things to note: 20G L tank. Well established for over a year. Water quality is pristine. Heavily planted. CO2 injection. I stopped dosing additional fertilizers several months ago as plants were growing just fine without. 40% water change weekly. I feed your typical OTC fish flakes and frozen bloodworms. No diet changes for the fish recently or ever.
No new plants or fish were added in the previous 2 months. The most recent fish I added are healthy and swimming around fine. Have had the German Ram for almost a year with no health issues at all.
I’ve attached pictures of the culprit. If anyone could guess what this is, I’m sure Orion would appreciate it as well as the subjects he has left behind in his tank. Extra pics for your enjoyment. Thank you!
