Removing annoying bits floating in the water

Ok so this is a problem in several of my tanks, tiny bits of what I guess is detritus floating about in the water
REally annoying then I’m trying to get photos of my fish...

Even if I do a thorough clean, remove wood, and shake plants to release all the detritus within them and do a larger than normal water change it’s still there , even days later it’s still floating about in the water.

Is it down to the filter to catch all this? Maybe time to upgrade the filters?

I’d love to have that NEW tank look all the time where all the tank, and water looks pristine

I know it’s not over feeding as we have reduce feeding over the last few weeks as a trial

Try some fine filter floss, if you have quite course pads it might be going through the filter and back out. A fine sponge on the intake is another option but the finer you go the faster it clogs up so depending on your set up in the filter in a way that it can bypass if it gets clogged might work better.

What filters are you using and what does the flow pattern look like? It could just be as simple as repositioning some things so they flow past the intake properly and get taken in instead of dancing around the tank in the water column.

Since you have stuff floating around the tank it should be easy to see where it goes and if it's missing the intake, adjust accordingly.

My tank journal.
