Cycling with liquid bacteria

Hi all, before I start i have several tanks already so am fully aware of the nitrogen cycle...
so I’ve got my first non nano tank set up (230l) and I’ve left it a week, the spike has started which is good. Now I’ve never used liquid bacteria before (I’ve always been patient or used an old filter ) but for a change I decided to go out and buy some to try and speed things up.

I added the recommended dose last night and almost 24 hours later I still have the same ammonia and nitrite ( around 2.0ppm).

Is this stuff something I am only meant to use from the moment you add water to the tank and not a week down the line when your ammonia and nitrite has already taken off?

It says there’s no harm in overdosing so would you look at adding some more since I already have high readings or sack it off and play the waiting game...

I have cut off a bit of sponge and put some of the ceramic pellets with holes in from an established aquarium in the hope to help speed things up also ...

Try a partial water change to bring the ammonia level down. It may seem counter intuitive, but at higher levels, ammonia is toxic to BB as it is to fish!

Tank On, Mike-

10g, 29g, & 37g fry grow out tanks, 110g stock tank.

What came first, the chicken or the egg. It was the egg, but not the egg from a chicken.
