Cover for Aquarium

I found it difficult to get a new canopy for my aquarium so I had to build a custom one myself from wood. I'm finding it equally difficult to get a condensation tray to go between the hood and tank due to the less common size of aquarium I have which is 30" x 15" (I live in the UK).

The good news is that I found a solution to get my own custom sized condensation tray but I am unsure what the best material would be for this as there are a few options.

Do I go with:
1) Plastic
2) Perspex Acrylic or
3) Polycarbonate?

Which would you choose?

Sorry to ask but, I would have to go back to the very basic question of what is the condensation tray? Not seen one in my area as I simply vent the heat and humidity out the back of the canopy and into the room air. Perhaps some info on what the tray does?

It prevents water from evaporating into the room so it drips back down into the tank instead. I have an Algarde one. It is a see-through plastic-like material.

Quit hogging the bloody water and let it evaporate, we are in the middle of a drought here in Southern California and could use the rain.

"If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand."

It seems like you guys in California put the State in charge of water. Bad move. :~)
