Roots out of a river

Found this root system out of a river I was just fishing in. They have quiet some character and would look pretty sweet in my tank. Y'all think it'd be safe to put in if I boiled it for a while?

I've regularly used wood we find hiking along Lake Michigan with only minor prep. The stuff I pick up is usually washed pretty clean from the waves so a quick bleach dip, rinse well and dry in the sun for a few days before it goes in the tank. That chunk looks to have a lot of nooks for dirt and bugs to collect so I'd probably boil and scrub a few times to knock all the loose stuff out before it would go into the tank.

75g that has rolled through various incarnations over the years...

It looks soft. Is it squishy, brittle, or otherwise infirm? Can you pick chunks out with your fingernail? If it's squishy, don't put it in your tank. It'll just jack your organics way up as it breaks down and you'll be fighting algae in no time. If it's solid, then as mentioned above, boil and scrub several times before introducing. A bleach dip may be good as well.
