Replanting/Rescaping Bad For Plants?

I couldn't quite find anything regarding this on the web, and have been going back and forth on this. Is rescaping plants bad for their health? Say, healthy plants that have established themselves well, then uprooted and moved. Not that I move my plants often, but I was just curious.

Moving is always a bit stressful...what to keep and move, what to give away, what to throw away...oh wait, plants.

I'm sure there's some stress and shock, but they typically recover well...and in some cases, thinning does a world of good as it reduces the competition for nutrients and allows room to grow.

Well if you think about it, all the plants that are in your tank now at one point have been violently yanked from their cushy lair for your enjoyment.

With that being said I agree with @AbbeysDad

If you move your plants, they will die. Once planted, they must stay there for life....
