Krylon fusion black is what I used, normal spray can. Worked well. I had a few finger prints on the glass prior to spraying, and the paint won't stick as well so make sure to rub down the glass with some alcohol / cleaner to remove any contaminants.

Cover the tank opening as well.

I've been using acrylic paint with a cheapo foam roller. Goes on easy, only takes a few coats, and comes off very easily with a razor blade.

I currently use cheapo acrylic with foam brush (0.97 usd from hobby lobby per bottle). it can be nicked easily, but repaired no problem.
I have used spray paint in the past, it chipped easily and was a mess to apply, hard to repair.

As a side note, I have always had to top coat(back coat) with white or white and black depending on the finish. Never had the look I wanted with just a coat of the final color. With both acrylic roll and spray.

I wouldn't use black personally. I used a frosted glass spray paint and it adds a really great soft end when you look through the tank. I think black adds too much of a hard end to the view.
