Converting my reef tank’s filter

Hi. I have been reading reading this forum for a long time and hope that I can finally contribute.

I had never used a reef tank before and soon realized that I didn’t like how specific the water volume had to be and also, that the correct way of using it is with the water cascading into the filter. I had to really pump up my co2. So if posting pics work... this is what I did.
Basically removed everything from inside the In Tank filter housing and put a filter at an angle all the way to the top. Now I can fill as high as I want (like for vacation) and don’t have to clean he filter for at least six weeks. Hope this gives someone some ideas Click image for larger version

Good idea, definitely useful for vacation when you have these type of tanks.

Why are you not putting you heater in the back compartment? One of the nice things of these all in ones is you can get a pretty clean look.
