New member ..and questions on getting started

Hi everyone!

I'm new here , I start keeping fishtanks 2 years ago with red belly piranhas and recently a new 55gal with a little rhombeus,I want to do a planted set up on this one but don't know much...

I live in Quebec Canada and speak french so my spelling may not be very good but i try my best .

So basically the project is:

-55gal tank (12"x20"x48")
- one 3" serrasalmus rhombeus
- no co2
-black substrate (to buy)
-low tech light ( the best grow possible without co2..)
-filtration is one fluval 405 and one oem whisper(360gph for both)
-temp is 80-82*
-30% weekly water change ļ
-i also got 3-4 other little cleaner fish like pleco and ottos..

So , my questions is about a good lightning set up for that tank, as my lfs have nothing and price are ridicusly high here !

for substrate I was thinking about black gravel/sand look like flourite black sand

black substrates will make my fish color pop more tank sand i have actually

I have not really made a budget ... i can spend couple of hundred $$ for a good setup on the long run , these fish grow slowly and if i'm lucky i will have him for years in that tank.

that's about it , i will post pic later..

thanks in advance!

i would probably just get a 48" long cfl fixture if you arent going with co2.

I'd go with one of these: http://www.bigalsonline.com/Fish_Lig...s.html?tc=fish

Well my lfs is supposed to get my 5 flourite bags tomorrow , 225$ vs 213$ on ebay .. but save 1-2 weeks and maybe some custom charge .

for the light ... i have no response from bigals, does he ship to canada? , I can't register on is website from here

and nobody ship to canada on ebay

I will look with my lfs if I can order somewhere but their price are very high!!, if someone have a place that ship to canada it would be cool!
