Who`s right ?

Using the nutrient deficiency chart at Aquatic Plant Central, I indentified an iron deficiency in my tank and in the text it advises that in dosing extra iron the affected leaves will not show an improvement, only any new leaves, yet further in the same thread a contributor shows a series of pictures where the plants in his tank appears to show improvement in previously affected leaves, after dosing extra iron.

My question is, is this an either/or situation or could different plant species show the pictured improvements ? The plant most strikingly affected in my tank is a Hygrophylla Siamensis 53B, although on closer inspection the deficiency is also apparent to a much lesser extent in some Anubias Nana.

TIA

I think it is the new growth leaves that will indicate if deficiency is still present.
Depending on severity of deficiency over longer period of time,Existing damage can be at various stages.
I normally pluck such damaged leaves off from the plant, so nutrient's are not being wasted trying to repair possible damage(seldom happens), and thereby increasing availability of nutrient's for new growth leaves.
If plucking the old damaged leaves off leaves you with hardly any plant, then more plants would be my path.
Is possible for plants to be deficient in more than one nutrient, so I would want to be sure that a little of all macros and micros are available for the plants rather than trying to identify one possible deficiency to the exclusion of possibly others as well.
At least until such time as I felt I was well versed at identifying the various symptoms which can at times appear same as possibly other deficiency.
