Red face 5.5 gallon shrimp and plant tank -

Hello all shrimp and plant lovers,

I have a 5.5 gallon shrimp tank going- for about three months now. It's got 5 adult shrimp and some babies , as well as dwarf (?) baby tears and dwarf hairgrass. I bubble in one drop every couple seconds of co2 while the light is on 8 hours a day, with 2 squirts of ada fertilizer in the morning. Right now there is a real bumper crop of fuzzy algae. I'm sure there's other threads but maybe algae problems are managed differently in smaller tanks like this? I am wondering if the flow could be improved.. right now there's a sponge around the intake so the babies didn't go in, i'm not sure if that is a factor. ty for any input!
