New guy

I am new to this site.I have kept freshwater for 25 years and saltwater for 7 years. This is my first attempt at a planted tank.I will be starting with a 120 that was a saltwater setup before up gradeing to a 240.I have a tek light 6x54 t5 and a co2 with electric selinoid that will be ran by a rk2.I am looking at getting 150 lbs of turface all-sport(turface mvp) for substrate .I have 40 gallon sump with a quiet one 400-hh for the return, that will cut back alittle.Looking forward to learning alot of new stuff.

Sounds Like it should be nice. 120 is plenty of room at least.

You can use a sump, they work perfectly fine, but you might want to make a couple of modifications to it to make it more useful to a planted tank. This thread:

https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/ge...-use-sump.html

explains those modifications pretty well IMO.
