Good/Affordable Plant Source?

I am new to planted tanks as I have just converted my 180gallon discus tank to plants. Of course, algae is growing better than the few plants that I have. From what I am reading, (besides lighting, ferts, CO2) I need to start out with a dense planting of fast growing plants. Does anyone know of an affordable source of fast growing plants? I say affordable, as I will need several to plant my 6 foot tank? Any help would be appreciated.

Post your location in your profile and it'll help in finding fellow hobbiests in your area that may be able to provide you with clippings. Also, find out if there are any aquatic societies in your area as this is another great way to collect plants...I should know since that's precisely the way I was able to stock my 125g tank so fully from the get go.

Join the SFBAAPS. Some of the finest people you'll ever meet. We typically have an informal meet to chad and swap plants once a month. You just missed the last one the I hosted this past Sunday.

What about one of the package deals some of the site sponsors offer? I think they call them an algae buster assortment or something similar. They work out to a very reasonable price. It will get you a nice full tank and you won't feel bad about replacing them with better specimans as your tank gets settled.

I think AquaBotanic offers an Algae Buster Pack.

Good idea Imp!
