DIY CO2 dangerous to fish?

Hello,

will a DIY CO2 bottle be dangerous to the fish in a 40L tank? I mean will it lower the pH very quickly and at very low levels that will cause death to fish?

Thanks

Lowering the pH with co2 is not relevant to fish. You are not changing the KH, GH, or TDS and those are values that actually matter to fish. ;;

You could, hypothetically poison the fish from too much co2. This is VERY rare with DIY co2 though.

I have killed fish from diy co2 in a 55 gallon tank. It is possible, but you have to add a lot more yeast than recommended. I had just added 3 - 2 liters with 1 tsp yeast in each 2 liter hooked up to a powerhead when it happened.

Without Algae, death of mankind would be inevitable.
