I am using the ASH kit on my 10G now, and you dont want to spand that much money for a light. If I had the chance to do over, I would give a try on coulp of the clips-on work light I found in wal-mart, which only cost 6 dollars for each. Or if you really want a decent light that has a nice looking and good result, then contect Catalina to make a single bulb T5 light for you. I remember that someone got it for 65 bucks shipped.

I've heard those oddysea fixtures are really crappy. I'm new to the planted tank thing too, but I'll pass on the same advice that helped me - too much light is not good and 36w on 10g sounds like a lot - you may end up needing to raise the light off the tank.

A 36W PL light costs you 15bucks plus shipping. You will not actually saved much money. I have also heard about few people got their light's ballast burned after few monthes, but just depends on your own luck. My employer have had an oddysea running on his tank for over five years with no problem.
