sterilizing driftwood?

I found some lovely pieces of driftwood from the Ohio river and was wondering how to go about sanitizing them. One is two feet the other is about three foot.

Repeated boiling is usually the best way. It's more for the chemicals and industrial waste that's in the river. I would try to find wood from a lake of a stream that feeds into the Ohio.

I've driven past Union once or twice.

15 minutes of rolling boil will do it. I collect wood from the Illinois river, so same scenario with the waste water.

Awesome what if they won't fit in pots though? Is there any other way?

H2O2. Put it in your sink and squirt it all over it and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse and youre good to go.

Hydrogen peroxide. Easily found at any big box store.

Not as bad as the OHIO

Imagine hundreds of Illinois River going into the same place.

I would boil it several times and make sure to change out the water. Hopefully the heavy metals and chemicals will go out with the water change.

In this case, you'll have to boil... Maybe find a big tub and dump boiling water over it (enough to cover) and let sit for a day or 2 and repeat.

Unscented, non-soapy bleach might be cheaper and work better.

I always keep hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol in my dorm. I'll find a way to boil it ... Just may be difficult.

How big is this wood? The h. peroxide may be too small of an amount.

Have a bathtub you won't be using for a few days?

If its that small H2O2 would do it for $1.00 at Wal-mart or another likely store.
