Hello, I made my first planted tank, a 10 gallon, in June of 2016. I just wanted to post here and show the progress, as well as ask a few questions. There is a lot of pics down below. the first pic is when I first planted the tank, second pic is probably about 3 months after setup, and the rest are current. My original inhabitant was a very beautiful betta, named Warlock. Unfortunately he developed a nasty tumor and passed away about 5 months ago. I included a picture of him, before and after he got sick
, he was an awesome fish. I since put in a few scarlet badis, pygmy cory, which always hide, and a few pheonix tetras. There is also red cherry shrimp, and assassin snails which completely wiped out a pond snail problem I had a while back. First question, I believe it's "duckweed", but whatever it is it started growing in my tank. I haven't added anything in a very long time, and I was astonished to see it start growing out of nowhere after such a long time. Anyone have an idea of how it got there? It's not a problem I actually really like the look of it. Second question if anyone could identify the type of algae growing in my tank, that would be awesome! I have staurogyne repens growing in the tank, and although it did well at first, it has always battled against different algaes that have grown over it over the last year, and I can never seem to get it to flourish, which really bums me out, any help would be appreciated. The algae grows in tufts and almost reminds me of spiky hair. Last question... what do you guys think of my tank? ?? thank you for checking it out!
