What is that disease? Velvet?
Hi, I really need help!
Yesterday, I noticed fin rot on my betta fish (I'm treating it right now: I did a 50% water change, and I added about a teaspoon of aquarium salt in his 10 gallon tank, I will be adding another teaspoon tomorrow morning, I just wanted to make sure he acclimated to the salt. I also have Bettafix that I will start using soon.) When I bought the fish (3-4 weeks ago) I noticed he had some gold spots, and I thought it was just normal coloration. When I was doing research for a cure for fin rot, I came across a page talking about velvet. My betta behaves normally (or at least he behaves the same has when I bought him). He isn't rubbing on rocks or anything like that. The tank is cycled, 0 ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrites, 5 ppm nitrates. It's heated at around 78F and filtered with a HOB filter. The betta is kept with 3 amano shrimps and a few hengeli rasboras. Is it velvet and if yes, how should I treat it (keep in mind I have shrimps, so no copper)?
*Please note that English isn't my main language and that I'm only 15. I feel like a lost puppy.
**The pictures show one of the spots, on his gill.
