Moved my filter pickup around.

In our new tank. I'm going to add some cichlids (dwarfs). I would like to add some tall hairgrass but I'm not sure if they will work (it's low tech).

How many cichlids do you think the tank would hold comfortably? (dwarfs) It's 36" long and the seaclear bowfront 26 gallon.

This is a pretty good stocking calculator. Its always my first stop when I'm thinking of adding fish or putting a tank together.

I would skip the hairgrass it probably won't do well. Also dwarf Cichlids especially German Blue Rams do not do well in new setups.

I haven't put in the hairgrass or ordered yet, I just did the fish. I didn't get Rams either. The tank has cycled and the numbers are solid.

Ph from seller matches the Ph of my tank too.

The four Apistos arrived today from Portland, (the wet spot! lulz). They're little guys so, they're unsexed, and they're AWESOME. I read about doing a flop and drop on these little dudes, but with how long they were in the UPS truck (we have a shattbird delivery guy), I knew they were cooking (even though they packed them with wet paper towels, double bags, and a foam lined box); so I decided to let them acclimate for 10 minutes, then I did a 1/4 cup tank add, let them sit for 10 more, then flopped them.

The Danios are target fish for them, so the Danios are all hanging up top and the four new badasses are grabbing territory. I added some sand a few hours before the fish and it scattered all over the plants and hardscape, but I'll clean it up once these guys have 48 hours in the tank.

Using three filters on this tank now (306, C2, 304b). It took the 304b to get the water clear after adding the powdered seaweed a month ago. I have more plants ordered and I'm using all local rock/petwood ($3 a pound at the ginkopetrified gemshop in Vantage WA) for the hardscape (besides the driftwood). I will move the 304b to the 45 frag I have coming (once it's seeded). Water quality is perfect and I'm very happy with the lack of algae. This forum has helped me immensely! I have a few more fish coming to get this tank fully stocked.
