Help identify what this is

Ive been looking online and cant seem to figure out exactly what this is growing on a few of my plants. I thought it might be the beginning of hair algae but everything i read online says hair algae is greenish and this is white. If anybody could please help me identify what this is so i can figure out the proper action to remove it.

Those might be hydra, which are aquarium pests. But I've only seen them in pictures and not in person, so I might be wrong. I'd check my "hydra" diagnosis against this excellent post: What is that bug in my Aquarium? .:. Various small creatures that can inhabit a Freshwater Invertebrate Aquarium

It looks like using SafeGuard or PanacureC dog dewormer in a measured dose for the tank works. Anybody have experience with that?

I haven't tried this method myself, but this post talks in depth about killing hydra in shrimp tanks: Killing Planaria and Hydra .:. Information on killing Planaria & Hydra with Fenbendazole

Best of luck! Tell us how your efforts work out, whatever method you choose.

Never had Hydra, only read about it.

I read to be careful using chemicals if you have snails or pest snails. They will die and cause ammonia spike...

Hydra

Only ever had it once and I was told to put a Blue Gourami (aka 3 Spot Gourami) in with them, took care of it in no time.

Having said that I do not know what they might do to your shrimp population.

Take only pictures, leave only footprints.

So I tried out the SafeGuard dog dewormer on the tank and its working really good. I took out the two snails I had in the tank, left all the shrimp and the otto cats in there. Dilluted the 1gram packet into 1 gallon of water. I read up that for a 10 gallon tank the dose would be .1gram. After some simple math i figured that 12.8 ounces if the solution should be equivalent to .1 gram, but I went with a smaller dose to be safe for the shrimp and went with 8 ounces (1 cup). Its been a couple of days I dont see any Hydra anymore, just little white specs where they once were. No fatalities in the tank whatsoever, was worried about a berried female I have in there but shes doing great. I'll keep posting further progress, but if anyone has any issues with Hydra this solution seems to be working great.
