basic software to manage tanks

Hello!

Does anyone use software to track their tanks? I've been using Excel but I'm sure I can find something less tedious / more tailored to tanks. pc or phone app is fine.

I found this list but it seems a bit dated. Search revealed no recent discussions.

Aquarium Software - Saltwater Aquarium Guide on Sea and Sky

I'm constantly forgetting names of plants, when I added a specific fish, even basic info like when I started a tank... doh.

Thanks.

edit - this is my 100th post woo hoo

In my opinion, your better off with just using Excel or other spread sheet program. The one area where I could see using something else is when your using a controller and there is software to record and monitor your tank.

The big advantage here is that you can add or record anything you want to.

If your someone that doesn't have Excel and doesn't want to spend the money on it, consider LibreOffice, which is an open source program that can do spreadsheets. You can find out more about it and download it here - https://www.libreoffice.org/ Versions for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux are available.

I use and would go with Excel or other excel like application and use a Cloud based drive so you can access your info anywhere.

I use the Aquaribase app for both my reef tank and planted tank. I like that that I can track and edit types of water parameters and even see them in graph form, keep track of plants, equipment, and fish- especially helpful when at the store trying to remember if I have something already. I can also set up reminders for tank maintenance- very nice for remembering when to change light bulbs, media, etc.

thanks everyone! I'll look at aquarimate and aquaribase. The latter sounds like what I'm looking for, thanks Foxbody.

Ive used Excel so far (well, the Open Office equivalent) but i'd prefer something with reminders. I toyed with google calendar but and good keep together but too much hassle.

Notebook and oencil? Sure... until you have young kids.

My last 3 aquarium notebooks:
-first got flooded by a bucket knocked over by my son
-second was 'found' in the cabinet by my daughter who promptly covered it in scribbles (she was 2)
-third got lost in a move - the kids 'helped' pack a lot, mostly books so a few mysteriously vanished. That's when I officially gave up =p

How have you got on with the software logging choice, have you had a play yet?
