Vivarium help

I've already posted this in a Canadian dart frog forum but I'd like to know what you guys think
I have a marineland 5 gallon portrait I would like to turn into a vivarium (no inhabitants, just plants). This would be my very first vivarium (but I do have experience with aquariums). I would like a water feature but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. They have a filtration section in the back with a pump that comes out of the top and I was thinking I could use that somehow. (I took some pictures off of Google to show what I mean).
Does anyone have any ideas how I could do it?

May I ask where the intake is? If the intake is on the bottom or if it can be moved it would be a lot eaiser.

Since it's plastic I think I could drill some holes? Would that work?

I have the same tank. There are 2 intakes, one about halfway up and the other at the top of the divider. You could make a new intake by drilling low. The problem is how you would drill. There is only about 5-6" from the divider to the front of the glass. Maybe a Dremel with a flexible shaft.
The other option is to remove the divider and set it up differently.

I got some holes in with a torch (tork? I don't know how to spell it. It's like a short drill). And it works!! I'll show some pictures when I get home. Now I have to figure out the design.
