How small is to small?

I don't know if this question has been asked on here but here it goes anyway. In this world of miniature aquariums/filters/fish/plants... How small is to small for an aquarium? Is it when you have to fill the aquarium with an eye dropper, or when you have to look at it with a microscope. Just wonderin'

I have seen galleries of people that have palm sized aquariums. It boggles the imagination how small we can really get.

is it still an aquarium if it's too small for fish or does it become an underwater garden?

Well you dont have to house fish for it to be an aquarium Could always just have a single shrimp... or.. to go to the extreme... aquarium just big enough for 1 brine shrimp?

If there is a plant or fish/shrimp in it, I suppose it counts as an aquarium.

For me personally, I think the realm of what most people think of as aquariums largely stops at around 1gal. With anything smaller than that, a large number turn into more of water-filled novelties.

That was the type of thing that I was talking about. I agree and think that it is really neat, but it seems much more of a novelty to me than something that I'd want to maintain over a long period of time. Just my opinion.
