58 gallon setup

I have a 58 gallon running in my sons room. AC70 for filtration, heater, and regular flourescent lighting. Whats it gonna cost me for lighting,Co2,subststate for this tank? I would like to get some medium to fast growing plants.really love ground cover plants but i know im gonna need some taller plants due to the height of the tank. It is a Oceanic 58 gallon, same dimesions as a standard 75 gallon just a foot shorter.

You will probably pay somewhere between $600-900 depending on what you get.

Well, Jake's number was around right, if you want to get a nice T5HO light, that can run as high as $400-$500 and CO2 is $100-$200.

Try $300-350 for the CO2 after you have everything which includes the regulator and the tank itself which might cost in the area of $100-150.

If you want to be running CO2 you should invest in a canister filter also.

Over all unless you are ok with investing close to 1k in equips alone for a high tech planted tank I would go the simple route and go low tech you might even be able to use the equipment you already have.

You can use this light, http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/prod...oducts_id=1416 for $125, hanging it about 4-6 inches above the tank. That gives you high light, if that is what you want. A Rena Filstar XP4 http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS...canisterfilter for $172, and a GLA CO2 system http://www.greenleafaquariums.com/co...o2-system.html for $365 (there are cheaper alternatives) will get you close to where you want to be. That totals about $700. So Jake is right.
