Visit to Local Petco

Like all chain pet shops, they are a huge rip when you pay regular price, but when they go clearence, the prices are rediculous:

20lb bag of FlorMax $10
Hagen CO2 system $17
Hagen Plant Grow sticks $2
All Coralife T5 bulbs $5
Hagen NPK liquid, others, all $4 a bottle

Is this going on now? I gather there is a clearance sale happening. Any dates or links to any announcements?

The minute you believe numbers uncritically, that is, without understanding how they're calculated and how well they measure whatever they're supposed to measure, you will generate a breed of employee who will produce numbers and not results. Your data-processing system will then serve not to describe reality but to lie about it."

I'm sure items will vary by chain, but my point is, they do have great deals! I was surprised at that.

They're probably getting out of the aquatic plant business and need to sell their inventory.
I wish there was a petco in my city.

So they're going to be dealing with plastic plants exclusively?

The horror...

We have one of their big pilot stores In our area, and the person that runs their fish department had told me at one point that they were going to be getting deeper into plants and reef items, the store had just upgraded their plant tank and had several tanks full of frags and othe reef life

I saw the bulbs today but they didn't have the right size. I may go on a mission tomorrow, everywhere is around $20/bulb, it's such a good deal.

I would never ever buy an animal at Petco but yes when they got deals I hit them up!

I found an automatic fish feeder usually on sale for 20 plus bucks for 9!

i think this might be the case. the petco near me did something similar and before long stopped selling more than 50% of the fish and supplies they had before.

Local PetCo and Pet Smart stores have a table or bins that are their bargains. Some reductions are as much as 50% off, but some are not so good. I have found some really great dog food there. I use certain kibbled dog food as training treats, so a small bag (5 lbs) lasts a while, and when I find it at a bargain price is cheaper than any packaged training treats.
I have also seen some aquarium stuff there, but it was not what I needed. Prices seemed pretty good.
Some of the packaging was torn, or just looking sad. Been on the shelf too long. Some stuff looked great, no reason I could see for it to be on special. Perhaps just slow moving.
