help with plant choices please

ok so i am going to set up a south american tank out of my 55 gal when i get in my new place. it will be a couple months yet but i want to start planing now so i can get it set up pretty fast once there. i would like to try angel breed and already know what ones i want. i plan on putting them in the 55 long enough to grow out and be able to pair off then they will have their own tank. the main fish in the tank will be a couple of schoolers: im thinking neons of some color and rummies, and maybe a couple pairs of apistos or blue rams. im not sure if i will put shrimp in or not. but i have no clue what all plants would do well in the tank. im guessing temps will be around 75. i dont know what the water is like so fare have not had a chance to get it tested. any way can any one give me ideas on what plants would do well in the tank or point me where to look? thanks all for the help

There are probably 1000 plants that would do well, depending on how much light you use, and if you use CO2. Plus, of course, whether you fertilize and how you do it. One source of information I like is at another forum, but I like the way you can search for different families of plants, and get several photos, usually, of what the plant looks like. That site is http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...c/plantfinder/

If you wanted your plants to fit with your South American theme, you could research South American biotope aquariums. They will always have a list of plants that fit that region, such as these:

http://fish.mongabay.com/biotope_amazon_blackwater.htm
http://www.freshwateraquariumplants....pe/amazon.html
http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquarium/amazon.php
http://www.amazonian-fish.co.uk/

You don't have to follow all their suggestions, but you could use their plant lists to give you ideas.

Joy to the fishes!
