Ebay CO2 drop checker question

I bought the $6.00 drop checker from ebay but the seller was from Hong Kong. His instructions for using the drop checker did not make sense. It came with the Ph regent but i think i need 4dkh solution? Will it work with only the PH regent or do i need to purchase 4dkh solution and mix them together?

Can someone clarify what i need to do to make this drop checker functional?

Somewhere in here there is a post on how to make 4dKH solution. You need the 4 dKH solution, and a couple of drops of the pH stuff (bromothymol blue).

you should probably just buy some...

you need to make some 4kdh easy to do with some distilled water and a little baking soda.

granted you need a test kit, but it should be part of your arsenal already

I made my own by adding a small pinch of baking soda to a cup of distilled water. I would test it, dump out most of the water and add more distilled water. It took a couple times of me doing this, but I ended up with a cup a 4dkh solution. This is by far not the best of making 4dkh, but it worked for me.

I believe I got the same drop checker from the same seller. Ubarn, right?

I made 5 and 6 dkh solutions. When I got close I used 4 x's the amount of water to do the test. I only have the API kit so 1 drop = 1dkh in the standard test method.
