Sumatra wood

Anyone know the best way to prepare Sumatra wood , the pieces I have are too big to boil so they have been well scrubbed in plain water then soaked in plain water in a tub for about 8 weeks , a small amount of gelatinous substance seems to come out of the wood in places , does anyone think its safe to go in my aquarium ?
Thx for help.

The "gelatinous" substance is probably mold. It will eventually go away. I don't think it's harmful to fish so you should be ok. If your water gets cloudy you will want to do some water changes over the course of several days/weeks.
