tall plants......what to do?

some of my plants are only a couple inchs from top of the water now.......

how do i 'trim' them? i guess you would call it...... or let them grow?

29 gallon biocube (sw) MJ1200, vortech MP10, stunner Led's, custom sump/refugium, + MORE
planted tank = .........currently working on it

which plants? most stem plants you can cut the tops and replant it.

or cut the tops (replant, sell or compost) and leave the bottoms so they branch out into a bush...

agree that it depends on the plant.

I tend to trim the bottom. They usually look nicer (to me) if you trim the base, not the top (at least Limnophilia does). There are several videos on YOUTUBE by Tropica on how to trim plants and general plant info that I've found helpful. The first one especially, at around the 8th minute. Here:
