broken cfl

i just broke a cfl and a piece of glass fell in my shrimp tank. how bad is that?

i guess time will tell. but im just wondering what will happen over the next few days

I think in CFLs it's just gases, try finding the glass piece though.

There are some phosphor coatings on the glass, but these should be minimal and should (hopefully) not affect the fish.

I think there's also mercury in most CFLs. Probably not enough to do any damage to the shrimpies.

I had the same thing happen about 2 weeks ago. Accidentally dropped my fixture into my tank and broke a CFL and a small peice of glass went into the water. My fish and shrimp are just fine, nothing bad at all happened because of it. (not counting breaking the bulb)

Make sure you don't eat the shrimp. (mercury poisoning)
