is this bowing?

I just recently bought this 40 gallon breeder about a month ago after my other 55gallon tank cracked. It looks like it is bowing slightly as a gap is shown from the glass cover to the rim. The gap is about 0.5cm and is on the back and front sides. As you can see the glass cover is perfectly straight while the rim/glass is curved. Should i be worried?

I was told by the LFS that this company is reliable and that the tank can be replaced by the manufacturer. I definitely don't want another 40 gallons of water in my living room but at the same time I don't want to completely rebuild my tank for the 2nd time in 3weeks

do you have a carpenters square ( its in the shape of a L) ? if so put it in the corner and that will tell you or use a tape measure and measure each end and then the middle and that should help you...good luck

Hmmm I see exactly what your talking about, Go get the level or even a straight board and lay against the front of the glass to get a better idea. I take it that it didnt look like this after you first set it up?

Im Going Too Say No ! If You Look At One End Of The Tank And Follow To The Other End The Gap Seems To Get Bigger .... Now If The Glass Lid Is Straight Then Look Under The Rim And See If It Is Flush With The Glass ... If The Tank Was Resealed Then Maybe The Rim Was Removed And Then Put Back On Without Pressure ..... Is There A Center Cross Support ?

If thats a versa-hood that you have on it then its for sure bowing. the glass top should be cut straight across and it doesnt look like the tank matches it at all. IDK if id be worried about it as some people use these tanks rimless but it doesnt look good.Doesnt a 40b come with a center brace? I thought they did but IDK? IMO it should have a center brace in it if it bows that bad.

40 breeders do bow a lot like that. Should be fine. 50 breeders, which are the same as a 40 breeder, but 2 inches taller do have a center brace.

Looks like the glass top is crooked. If you're worried, give the suggested tools a try.
