Question Ammonium Chloride in Specific for cycling

What are your thoughts on using Ammonium Chloride in specific for fishless cycling (with plants)? Is there any good reason not to use this compound? (NH4Cl) I couldnt find much info on this and i just ordered https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 thanks for the help!

Complacency is the enemy of progress-

It would unnecessarily cause your TDS to increase. I suppose it would work fine though.

Cool, didn't know Fritz also sells that. There is Dr. Tim's Ammonium Chloride (liquid) as well. Can't remember the strengths/concentrations.
You can cycle just fine with Ammonium Chloride so go ahead and use it.

Plants do use a bit of Chloride as a micronutrient. I know toxicity is a potential, but don't believe you would achieve toxic levels while cycling.

The more common ammonia source for cycling is Ammonium Hydroxide, typically bought as "Ammonia" as a cleaner. You'd need one that doesn't contain surfactants or any scents/other chemicals. Most common recommended one is from Ace Hardware (Ammonia, janitorial strength).
